In 1731, Scottish and Scots-Irish Presbyterians immigrated to South Carolina. Then in 1805 and 1806, eleven families of their descendants came to Williamson County, Tennessee looking for land. They found that land in 1807 where together they purchased over 5,000 acres from the heirs of General Nathaniel Greene, a part of the 25,000 acres which in now in Maury County. This land was granted to General Green in 1784 for his service in the Revolutionary War.

Today, we live on Bobby’s family farm, Armsdale, which was settled in 1807 by Bobby’s great, great, great grandfather, James Armstrong, who was one of these original settlers. Bobby’s grandfather, Horace Armstrong, built the home where we reside, in 1902.
Although Bobby was raised on this farm, he left to attend college at Ole Miss and then went on to become a golf professional having served several fine clubs in the southeast. A decision to return to the family home in 1999 brought us back to Tennessee.
With the rich farmland and several limestone springs that are part of Armsdale Farm, we decided to return part of the land to its roots. After attending several conferences, reading as much as we could and talking with many knowledgeable modern day farmers, the idea of planting an organic produce garden emerged.
It has been an adventure as we decided this in the year (2009) where the spring rains have broken records! As we move forward in faith with the conviction that people are eager to have wholesome food grown locally, we continue to learn and grow.
We invite you to journey with us.
